Help pioneer personalized medicine by 3D printing tablets tailored to each child's exact dose, and see your research shape safer pediatric healthcare.
Description
Pediatric patients need medicines dosed precisely for their age and weight, yet many drugs are only available in adult formulations. Healthcare professionals often have to split tablets, open capsules or dissolve part of their contents, a practice that risks inaccurate dosing. In this project, you contribute to 3D-printed tablets and oral films that can deliver the exact dose a child needs. Your tasks include:
- Produce 3D-printed tablets and oral films using our 3D printer.
- Analyze the printed formulations in the laboratory, including dissolution speed and active ingredient content.
- Develop skills in pharmaceutical formulation, quality control and analytical techniques.
- Write a research report describing the full development process, from formulation design to laboratory analysis.
- Contribute, depending on your results, to a scientific publication.
Work environment
You will join a department with an open, welcoming and supportive atmosphere. As an intern, you become a valued member of the team, free to ask questions, share ideas and take initiative. Colleagues are happy to share their knowledge and will guide you throughout your project. You can also join meetings and presentations related to the department's work, giving you insight into both your own project and the broader field.
Qualifications and skills
You are a student in Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences or Pharmacy with hands-on laboratory experience, ready to combine pharmaceutical technology with practical research.
- Enrolled in Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences or Pharmacy.
- Proficiency in both Dutch and English and living in The Netherlands.
- Demonstrable laboratory experience.
- Genuine interest in pharmaceutical technology and personalized medicine.
Terms
- You will receive a temporary position for 5 à 6 or 9 months
- A workweek of 40 hours.
- The starting date is flexible and can be discussed.
