Ensure a smooth production and manufacturing process for our state-of-the-art semicon metrology tools.
About the role
The Production Engineering Specialist is responsible for ensuring a smooth production flow of released products by managing and resolving production issues, interfacing with various departments, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role involves tight coordination with Supply Chain Management (SCM), Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT), Design and Engineering (DnE), Service teams, and suppliers. The Specialist also focuses on ensuring Design for Excellence (DfX) principles, managing continuous improvement processes, and handling escalated quality issues. Considering the rapid expansion and optimization of our production environment, there will be ample opportunity to take ownership and shape this role by your own ideas and initiative.
Key responsibilities

Production Flow Management:
-
Ensure a seamless production flow for released products.
-
Address and resolve production issues that may arise, working to minimize downtime and disruptions.

Issue Escalation Handling:
-
Manage and resolve escalated issues from operations to Design and Engineering (DnE).
-
Coordinate with relevant teams to address and resolve complex production challenges.
-

Cross-Functional Interaction:
-
Maintain tight interactions with Supply Chain Management (SCM), AIT, DnE, Service teams, and Suppliers (SQE) to ensure smooth operations and address production issues.
-
Facilitate communication and coordination between different teams to support production needs.

Design for Excellence (DfX):
-
Ensure that design meets DfX principles, including Design for Manufacturability, Design for Assembly, and Design for Serviceability.
-
Provide feedback to the design team on potential improvements based on production experiences.
-

Training and Support:
-
Train AIT teams on New Product Introductions (NPIs) and updates, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle new products and changes.

Continuous Improvement (CIP):
-
Manage Continuous Improvement Programs (CIP) related to production flow KPIs.
-
Implement improvements such as better tooling, optimized production mix, simple Technical Product Document (TPD) updates, and creating Change Requests.

Provide technical input for Supplier Quality Improvement (SQI) initiatives.

Quality Issue Management:

Manage and resolve (escalated) Quality Problem Corrective Actions (QPCS) and Problem Solving Review (PSR) issues.

Develop and implement correction plans for identified quality issues.

Follow up on formalizing corrections for future systems and creating Change Requests as needed.

Change Request Management:
-
Stakeholder in the prioritization and management of Change Requests.

Ensure that change requests are properly documented, prioritized, and implemented to improve production processes.

Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Expertise:

Strong understanding of production processes, design principles, and quality management systems.

Experience with Design for Excellence (DfX) principles.

Problem-Solving:

Excellent problem-solving skills to address complex production issues and escalate as necessary.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including SCM, AIT, DnE, and suppliers.

Process Improvement:

Experience with continuous improvement methodologies and tools.

Ability to identify and implement improvements in production flow and tooling.

Communication Skills:

Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders and documenting processes.

Project Management:

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
-
Experience in creating and managing Change Requests and implementing corrections.

Training and Development:
-
Experience in training teams on new processes and updates.
-
Educational Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering: Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Industrial, or a related field.
-
Experience: Typically 5+ years in a production engineering role or similar, with experience in managing production flow, quality issues, and cross-functional teams.
