Develop methods to characterize anatomy and disease trajectories through multimodal imaging of the eye.
Job description
Image analysis is increasingly important for the diagnosis and management of eye diseases. Common diseases such as glaucoma and (high) myopia can lead to severe vision loss if untreated. Anatomical changes can be quantified using imaging techniques such as optical coherence tomography (OCT). However, it can be challenging to differentiate between natural anatomical variations and early signs of disease.
The objectives in this project are to model natural anatomical variation in retinal structures from OCT imaging, to develop methods to detect and quantify early disease, and to build longitudinal models for individualized risk prediction.
Challenges include working with large amounts of heterogeneous data from various imaging devices and acquisition protocols and variations in image quality.
