Your Role
We are looking for a Lead Designer to own the design function at Blockrise. This is a foundational hire: you will define how we present ourselves visually and experientially, across product, brand, and marketing. You will work closely with product, engineering, and marketing to ensure that everything we ship looks considered and builds trust with a professional audience.
This is an individual contributor role to start, with the expectation of building a small design team as we grow.
What you'll do
- Own the end-to-end design of our client-facing product, from discovery through to delivery, working alongside our Product Manager and engineering teams
- Define and maintain our visual identity, design system, and brand standards across digital and print
- Translate complex financial and regulatory concepts into clear, accessible interfaces and communications
- Support marketing with asset creation for campaigns, reports, presentations, and web
- Establish design processes and tooling that scale as the team grows
What you bring
- 5+ years of experience in product or UX design, with some brand or visual design exposure
- A strong portfolio demonstrating work on complex, data-rich, or regulated-industry products
- Proficiency in Figma; comfortable working across design systems, components, and prototyping
- The ability to operate independently, set your own priorities, and move fast without sacrificing quality
- A preference for clean, functional design over decoration, appropriate to a professional financial services context
- Experience working in a startup or scale-up environment where you have had to build things from scratch
Nice to have
- Background in fintech, crypto, or regulated financial services
- Experience hiring and mentoring junior designers
- Familiarity with frontend handoff workflows (e.g., working with engineers in React environments
