Blue Oak Consulting

Junior CSS Developer – Blue Oak Consulting – Rotterdam

Jobid=626776907093378940 (0.0985)

We are looking for a Junior CSS Developer to help build and refine digital interfaces for a major European logistics firm as part of our technical advisory team. This role focuses on translating financial models and pricing frameworks into clear, maintainable web components that help our clients visualize complex data.

About Blue Oak Consulting
Blue Oak Consulting provides independent advisory on pricing, portfolio economics, capital allocation, and acquisition assumptions. We are not a traditional consulting firm focused on broad transformation programs or high level strategy decks. Instead, we interrogate specific commercial decisions where the financial stakes are high and the existing narrative is not sufficient. Our team looks past corporate language and P&L complexity to identify where value is leaking or capital is trapped. We work across sectors like software, manufacturing, and healthcare to test whether the assumptions behind a growth plan or an acquisition actually hold under pressure. We are a small, principal led firm where the people who do the work are the ones accountable for the results. We do not take transaction contingent fees, which allows us to be completely honest about whether the economics of a decision make sense. Our goal is to provide clarity through financial discipline and a healthy amount of skepticism. We stay through the execution phase because decisions that look sound in theory often fail when they meet real world friction.

The Role
Working in this position means you will be part of a distributed team focusing on the styling and presentation layer of our internal tools and client facing prototypes. Because we are a fully remote firm, you will have the autonomy to manage your own workspace while staying in close contact with our senior analysts through digital channels. The focus here is not just on the visual appearance: it is about ensuring that the layout and styling reflect the precision of the underlying financial data. You will spend your time refining stylesheets, ensuring consistency across browsers, and making sure that complex grids and dashboards are easy to read for the logistics firm we are currently advising. This is a permanent, full-time position where you can develop your technical skills in a professional, research driven setting.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Translate design mockups and wireframes into clean, organized, and documentation heavy CSS.
  • Collaborate with consultants to create data visualizations that help the logistics client understand their pricing structures.
  • Test and audit interfaces across different screen sizes to ensure that critical pricing data remains legible and accessible.
  • Maintain and expand a library of reusable UI components to speed up our advisory reporting and prototyping.
  • Debug layout issues that arise when displaying large datasets or complex financial tables.
  • Help document style guides to ensure team consistency during the project execution phase for the client.
  • Work with technical leads to implement logical styling that adapts to user input and changing data sets.
  • Review existing codebases to find where styles are inefficient, redundant, or causing performance issues.

What You Bring

  • A solid understanding of HTML and CSS fundamentals gained from a degree, bootcamp, or self directed projects.
  • Familiarity with modern layout techniques like Flexbox and Grid.
  • An interest in how data is presented and a curious mindset toward financial or logistical workflows.
  • A high level of attention to detail, especially regarding spacing, font hierarchy, and pixel alignment.
  • The ability to work independently in a remote setting while communicating progress clearly to the team.
  • Willingness to learn new tools and CSS methodologies as required by the specific needs of a project.
  • Basic comfort with version control tools like Git.
  • A degree in a technical field, web design, or equivalent practical experience demonstrated through a portfolio or project list.

What We Offer

  • A competitive salary that is attractive for an entry level developer role in the current market.
  • A fully remote working environment with the flexibility to work from your preferred location.
  • Direct access to the firm partners and senior advisors, providing a clear view of how high level financial decisions are made.
  • Regular feedback and mentorship on code quality, professional standards, and technical growth.
  • Paid time off and benefits consistent with a permanent, full-time professional position.
  • The opportunity to see the real world impact of your work as it helps a major logistics firm improve its commercial operations.
  • A professional environment that values clear documentation and disciplined execution over corporate buzzwords.

At Blue Oak Consulting, we value clear thinking and technical precision. We believe that a well built interface is a vital part of delivering clarity to a client, especially when the subject matter involves high stakes economic decisions. While the work is demanding, you will have the support of a dedicated team that values results and honesty. Joining us means contributing to a firm that prioritizes discipline in every project, ensuring that our logistics clients can rely on the data we present and the tools we build to support their business.
