A Dutch University is looking for a TEMPORARY MIDPOINT ENGINEER (IAM: Identity and Access Management) to support the IAM programme within the ICT Service Center (ICTS).

Due to the end-of-support of SAP IdM by the end of 2027 and the planned migration to MidPoint (an Evolveum product), this Dutch University is seeking, as of Q1 2026, an experienced MidPoint Engineer to temporarily strengthen the Technology stream of the IAM programme.


DEADLINE & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

Start date: 01/03/2026
End date: 31/03/2027

Extension: Not applicable (project-based)

Working days per week: ± 3 days per week
(25 hours per week / 100 hours per month / 1,200 hours per year)

Location: Maastricht area (hybrid)

On-site presence: 1–2 days per week or bi-weekly (to be agreed)

Contract type: Secondment / Detachment


WHY THIS ASSIGNMENT?

This Dutch University is facing a strategic modernisation of its Identity & Access Management landscape. The new IAM solution must:

  • Align with established IAM policies

  • Reduce risks

  • Be user-friendly and secure

  • Provide efficient access for staff, students, guests, and partner organisations

As a MidPoint Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the technical delivery of this transition within a complex academic IT environment with strong SAP integrations.

At present, there is no MidPoint expertise within the IAM management or ICT Services teams. In addition, there is limited availability of professionals with extensive Java experience.


ABOUT THE IAM PROGRAMME

The IAM programme consists of multiple streams (or working groups) coordinated by a Programme Manager.

The Technology stream is responsible for replacing SAP IdM with IAM MidPoint (Evolveum).

You will work within the Technology stream, reporting to an internal Project Lead, and collaborating closely with the IAM management team and other ICTS colleagues.

The Technology stream works in close cooperation with:

  • Policy & Organisation

  • HR

  • Architecture

  • ICT Services


SCOPE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

Connection of the HR administration (SAP SuccessFactors) via an integration hub, including provisioning to systems such as:

  • SAP SuccessFactors EC

  • SAP S/4HANA (Cloud & On-Prem)

  • SAP Ariba Suite

  • SAP SAC

  • SAP BTP

  • SAP Business Warehouse

  • SAP Active Directory (directly connected, feeding Entra via MS Sync)

Provisioning to SAP target systems is handled via SAP IPS. The required connector between SAP IPS and the relevant SAP source system is delivered and maintained by SAP.

This organisation is responsible for implementing the provisioning integration between MidPoint and SAP IPS.

In addition, standardized provisioning is used (e.g. SCIM protocol).

For systems that do not support this standard message format, application owners will need to implement their own endpoint (such as an IGA target connector) for user and role provisioning.

The integrations between MidPoint and the connected target systems must support the following processes:

  • Reading application roles so they can be imported into MidPoint (e.g. via CSV files);

  • Provisioning and de-provisioning of accounts and entitlements;

  • Reading users and roles for reconciliation purposes.


YOUR ROLE: MIDPOINT ENGINEER

Within the current IAM management team, MidPoint expertise is missing. You will bring this expertise while simultaneously ensuring knowledge transfer “on the job.”

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Designing and elaborating a robust SAP MidPoint implementation within the IAM architecture landscape

  • Installing and configuring MidPoint in line with Evolveum requirements

  • Configuring IAM policies and workflows

  • Advising on build sequencing (Must-have vs Should-have requirements)

  • Supporting risk identification and contributing input to the programme risk log

  • Implementing source and target system integrations

  • Importing application roles (e.g. via CSV)

  • Provisioning and de-provisioning of accounts and entitlements

  • Supporting reconciliation processes (users/roles)

  • Actively guiding and transferring knowledge to IAM management team members
    (Beyond implementation, it is essential that the IAM management team learns “on the job” through close collaboration with the IAM Engineer.)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven medior or senior experience with MidPoint implementations (from design and configuration through to delivery)

  • Experience with IAM architectures and provisioning processes

  • Experience connecting source and target systems

  • Experience with SAP applications (SuccessFactors, S/4HANA, Ariba, etc.)

  • Availability of approximately 3 days per week throughout the entire project duration

  • Willingness to be physically present in Maastricht office 1–2 days per week

  • Strong communication skills

  • Experience working on interim or project-based assignments

  • Your experience working in large and complex organisations and/or tech companies
